Medical Appointment Scheduling Software

Hi Guys,

Over the past few years I had the experience to deal with a few doctors and I decided to compile a list of some things I noticed. I thought I should share it with you guys. If you run a medical practice or in some way are related to a medical practitioner, following steps can help a medical practice.

Keep ‘Em Happy!

Keep your patients happy! If you want your patient to come back to you, you need to put in an effort to please them. These are the people who are sad and upset because of their medical condition. Last thing they need is a grouchy doctor or staff to deal with. I personally went through this. You enter a doctor’s office and see this person sitting behind the window. If the person welcome’s you with a smile and makes you feel comfortable, it makes a whole lot of difference. I guess same is true for any public dealing business but remember patients are the sad customers that are looking for hope and trying to take their mind off of their health issues. Same is true for the doctor. I visited this one doctor for a while and every time this guy would enter the room he looked like if he was upset over something. I so wanted to ask the guy if its me he does not like or is he just mad at life!

Lively Atmosphere

Make your office atmosphere lively! I noticed that every doctor office I visited had this depressing atmosphere. I’m not saying that you should start playing loud music or something but at least have TV in the waiting area or decorate it well so that it does not look like a typical doctor’s office. That 10 to 15 minutes a patient waits outside, they’re looking at the surroundings and no wonder what s going thru their minds. A nice atmosphere can definitely help the patient.

Know Your Patient!

One thing I noticed is that your doctor’s in a race to get in and out of the check up room. I know doctors have a busy schedule but talk to your patient, get to know them. For some patient’s you might be the only person they can talk to. This person believes in whatever you say. For some of these people you might be the next important entity after God!

Follow up Calls!

You should appoint staff to make follow up calls and appointments. If you see that regular patient has not come in for a while, make a call. Find out what’s going on with them. I have high cholesterol and have been trying to lower this damn thing. Last time I got it checked my doctor told me that I should control my diet and he will check it after 3 months again. I think it’s almost been 5 months and no one has called to set up an appointment or anything. I will of course do it myself but one thing that came in my mind was that the doctor does not really care and secondly from a business point of view, he could have made money by my visit.

Patient Privacy

One thing I went through is that every time I would call my doctor’s office to make an appointment, this lady would ask me what am I coming in for? Now, sometimes we all can be in a weird situation, you may want to discuss a colon checkup with your doctor, you might want to get tested for STD’s! These people work at the doctor’s office and they have access to all your records, not sure about you guys but I’am not really comfortable talking about this to the front desk person.

Of course any practice would still work but if you are that doctor who cares about his patients, I believe you are must already be aware of these things. If not, may be you can benefit from this. If you’re looking to automate your patient appointment scheduling, this medical scheduling software can help.
