I have an idea for affordable healthcare. What would you think about not paying for insurance but paying monthly directly to your health provider/hospital a set amount say $50 per person, $150 per family. I think it would work great. No money lost to paying the insurance giants salaries, but paying the hospitals directly and when something happens to you, no problem it’s covered.

Your idea sounds great, except that from recent and very horrible experiences from multiple hospitalizations for someone in my family, you would be providing money to a particular hospital which I’m sorry to say WILL NOT HAVE YOUR BEST INTEREST in mind!
In our case, at first I thought it was due to problems they might be having with MEDICARE, but after seeing that all their bills_in the $90k’s +_keep on being paid, and patient gets apparently best care while at hospital, but not so when she’s sent home, such as not been prescribed same kinds of medications which can perfectly be taken in her home and all other proper treatments_I soon realized that once they get all they can from MEDICARE, and feel that questions will be started to be asked, etc., then the person is released prematurely, with subsequent added problems to her health.
It’s similar to eating as much you can at a buffet, only to be badmouthing it when you know you cannot take FREE FOOD HOME!!!! Person is a great patient while at hospital, but appears to be “at end stage of disease” upon release!
